What do IT/AI, karate, and science fiction have in common? Welcome to my blog.

Hi, I’m Kordian.

For over twenty years, the world of IT has been my natural environment. On a daily basis, I lead an IT team and design and build information systems. But when the workday ends, my passion for technology doesn’t.

I’ve always been fascinated by connecting seemingly distant elements. What links the discipline I learned on the karate mat with designing IT systems? How can thinking about starships contribute to creating better business applications? And how is artificial intelligence changing the rules of the game not only in our professional lives but in our entire existence?

This blog is a space where I want to talk about just that. Without the corporate jargon – I’m an old-school guy, from a time before the great corporatization, and despite working in such organizations, some standards are still foreign to me. I want to share three areas that particularly interest me here:

Technology that makes real sense: A practical look at AI, ERP systems, and, more broadly, IT systems that support business. We’ll analyze how technology can genuinely help companies, not just look impressive on slides. I want to show real-world applications of AI – not marketing promises that end with prototypes and nothing more (besides significant losses), but an understanding of how large language models work and the areas where they are truly worth using today.

The big questions: Science, space, and everything that makes us look at the stars and ask, “what’s next?”. This has been my constant fascination since I learned to read. Science and science fiction – I simply love them.

Creativity in action: I sometimes write science fiction short stories. Until now, they’ve ended up in a drawer, but I thought it was time to change that. I’ve decided to occasionally share the fruits of that creative joy here.

In short, this will be a blog about technology with a human face.

To give you a taste of what we’ll be discussing, here are a few news items that recently caught my attention.

What’s new? AI codes like a master, Python gets a turbocharge, and a feast is underway in space.

Get ready for a batch of fresh information that perfectly illustrates the topics we’ll be tackling here. A lot is happening!

News #1: AI just won a gold medal in programming Remember Deep Blue’s victory over Kasparov in chess? We’ve just witnessed something similar, but in the world of programming. Google DeepMind’s AI model – AlphaCode 2 – was the first in history to achieve a gold-level performance in an international programming competition. It solved a problem that human programmers struggled with, placing it among the top competitors. Google unhesitatingly calls this a “historic moment on the path to true artificial general intelligence.” This is no longer just about pattern recognition – it’s about creative, expert-level problem-solving.

News #2: Python 3.13 is here and it’s removing a major bottleneck If you program in Python, this is the news you’ve been waiting years for. Version 3.13 is coming, and with it, a change that revolutionizes the language’s capabilities. The GIL (Global Interpreter Lock) is officially being removed for many use cases. What does this mean in practice? Until now, even on the fastest multi-core processor, Python could only fully utilize one core at a time. It’s like having an eight-lane highway with only one lane open. Now, that limitation is disappearing. Multi-threaded applications (web servers, complex calculations) will finally be able to run in true parallel. Python is getting a massive power boost.

News #3: Cosmic cannibalism caught live, thanks to the Hubble Telescope In space, just 260 light-years from us, something as fascinating as it is unsettling is unfolding. The Hubble Telescope has recorded a “dead” star – a white dwarf – in the act of devouring a Pluto-sized icy object that was once part of its own planetary system. This is the first time we’ve been able to observe such a phenomenon. Thanks to this, we know that the planet’s debris contains significant amounts of carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen – key ingredients for life. It’s a unique lesson about the future that awaits our own Solar System in a few billion years. Real-time cosmic archaeology.

News #4: This sci-fi film is breaking records before it even hits theaters If you appreciate good science fiction, take note of this title: “Project Hail Mary.” It’s an adaptation of the book by the author of “The Martian,” starring Ryan Gosling. Sound promising? The first trailer broke all-time records, gaining 400 million views in a week. At Comic-Con, the first scenes were shown, including a meeting with an alien nicknamed “Rocky,” and the audience reacted with enthusiasm. It’s said to be the perfect combination of humor, suspense, and a well-thought-out plot. The film hits theaters in March 2026, and the level of anticipation is already immense. I love this book and am incredibly excited for the film adaptation; the hype is so huge it will be hard for it not to deliver. A hit is on the way.
